There are 16 new course as well as 16 retro, the new courses, mainly character-based, include Music Park (driving across piano keys that play music), Rosalina's Ice World (based on Super Mario Galaxy), Neo Bowser City, and some of the retro courses include Koopa Cape (Wii), SNES Rainbow Road, Luigi's Mansion (DS), Luigi Raceway (N64), and a lot more to choose from.

The most noticed addition however, is the hand glider, which you use in each course, including the classics, by jumping special blue ramps that are specifically designed for using the hand glider. Once you're in the air you can pull down on the joystick to glide over objects or push up to gain speed. The coins on the tracks can be collected to unlock more karts, tires, and gliders and for every 50 coins you collect you unlock one new item and the more coins you have on a course the faster you'll go.The best part of the game in my opinion however, is the 3D effects. The field of depth they were able to accomplish was just amazing, I actually felt as if I was part of the game as I zoomed through different courses. But it's not only the 3D effect that gives it this "WOW" factor but also the 2D graphics in general. They were well designed and defined and you can definitely see the differences in MK DS and 3DS. . I definitely enjoyed the game and would recommend it to anybody who asks. They managed to make it better than the previous games and still give it the Mario feel.
Pros: Amazing 3D effects/ New courses/ Hand-glider
Cons: Fewer character/ Slows down dramatically when underwater
Final Verdict: 9.5/10
